Toll Rises to 133 in Moscow Concert Hall Attack as ISIS Claims Responsibility
Suarapecari.com Moscow – The death toll from the attack on the Moscow concert hall has climbed to 133, according to the latest information from the Russian Investigative Committee. This update emerged as authorities combed through the ruins of the charred Crocus City Hall on the western edge of Moscow in search of more victims.
Previously, Russian authorities had reported 115 fatalities from the attack, which occurred on Friday (22/3/2024), and left numerous others injured.
ISIS in Afghanistan has claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement posted on social media. An official from US intelligence told AP that US intelligence agencies had also confirmed ISIS’s involvement.
In his address on Saturday (23/3/2024), Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that authorities had detained 11 individuals, including four directly involved in the attack. They were attempting to cross the border into Ukraine, which Putin described as an attempt to create a “window” for their escape.
Ukraine vehemently denied any involvement in the attack and accused Moscow of using it to try to incite war.
